The Science Behind Food and Emotional Connections
Nourishing the Heart
Poem by Levi Sap Nei Thang
In the depths of longing, I seek solace sweet,
A taste of yesterday’s embrace, so complete.
With each bite, a whisper of what used to be,
A symphony of flavors, a love once set free.
Yet the bread feels stale, devoid of your touch,
Missing your essence, oh, how I long for it much.
For in the simplest moments, our souls intertwined,
It was never just a sandwich, but love’s design.
The lettuce lacks crispness, the tomatoes lack hue,
A mirror of my heart, longing for the vibrant you.
It was never the ingredients that made it divine,
But our togetherness, a flavor that transcended time.
Oh, how I miss the laughter, the shared delight,
As we delighted in each bite, everything felt right.
Now, this sandwich sits cold, a reminder of the profound,
That it’s you who made my appetite dance and astound.
So, I sit here alone, savoring bittersweet reminiscence,
A sandwich, a vessel for love’s tender existence.
For it was never just about the food we used to share,
But the love that filled each bite, beyond compare.
