Feeling Alone in a City Poem
by Levi Sap Nei Thang
In the shadows of an empty city, I stand alone,
Aching for your presence, longing for your tone.
The silence of the night it haunts my weary soul,
As memories of your absence begin to take their toll.
I toss and turn, sleep’s elusive grasp slipping away,
Like a forgotten melody fading in disarray.
Why couldn’t we hold on amidst life’s turbulent tide?
What could I have done better to keep you by my side?
Each morning’s awakening a bittersweet reminder,
Of the void that you’ve left, where love used to reside.
From breakfast to lunch, my heart echoes your absence,
And grocery trips now echo with painful reminiscence.
You once knew each detail of my daily routine,
But in the midst of darkness, you left unseen.
Alone, I now wander, left to question and lament,
Why didn’t you ask after me, simply for my content?
